Edmund Rice Camps

See I am doing
something new,
says the Lord.
Isaiah 43:19

The Edmund Rice Camps provide a summer camp experience for poor children who would otherwise have no opportunity for such an experience. There is no charge to the children who attend the camp, nor to their families

The volunteers who run the camps engage in various fund-raising activities during the year in order to support their work and keep the camps free for the children.

"Were we to know the merit and value of only going from one street to another to serve a neighbour for the love of God, we would prize it more than Gold or Silver." (Letter from Edmund Rice to Brian Bolger, 10th August, 1810)

The Edmund Rice Camps are part of a world wide movement which is inspired by the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice who "was moved by the Holy Spirit to open his whole heart to Christ present and appealing to him in the poor. He was given the grace to respond by identifying through Christ with the poor in order to evoke in them a deep awareness of God's loving presence." (Christian Brothers' General Chapter)
